Volejbols.lv: a website for the Latvian Volleyball Federation

The Latvian Volleyball Federation wanted one site for the whole sport, from children’s first serves to the national teams, with results that keep themselves up to date. FORGET co-designed it and built it on WordPress with a custom Sage theme: tournament tables, match pages, rosters and player statistics are synced from Dataproject, CEV, FIVB and Tournated, while the federation’s team writes the news and builds pages from 44 custom blocks. An import script brought the old site’s articles and images across, and FORGET hosts and maintains the site.

Tables and results that update themselves

Tournament tables, match pages, rosters and player statistics come from Dataproject, CEV, FIVB and Tournated. Scores sync every 10 minutes into the site’s own database, and the pages that changed are cleared from the cache. What the feeds don’t carry, such as stream links, overall standings pasted from Excel and photo galleries, the team adds in WordPress.

Every game of the season in one calendar

The calendar brings together games from Dataproject, CEV, FIVB and Tournated with the competitions and events the team adds in WordPress, with an archive back to 1992. Visitors switch between a list and a month grid, move through months and years without a page reload, show only games or only events, and star their own teams so the calendar shows just their games. The starred teams stay in the browser, with no account needed.
